Creekwater FAQs
What is Creekwater?
Creekwater is filtered, canned water. That’s it! And no, it is not actually from our namesake, Johns Creek. The water is a secondary product of Six Bridges’ beer and spirit-making process that has been filtered and purified, ready for safe consumption.
How is it made?
Using Six Bridges’ existing process technology, filtered water that is produced as a result of the brewing process can be captured, canned, and purchased by the City at a low cost. The cans and all packaging materials can be easily recycled in traditional single-stream recycling containers.
How does it relate to the City’s sustainability goals?
One of the Council Strategic Priorities for 2023 is the pursuit of the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Green Communities Certification program which awards points for policies and practices that mitigate environmental impact. One of the greatest impacts to our waterways and ecosystems is plastic waste. As part of the Johns Creek Going Green campaign, staff explored the areas of operations which generated the most plastic waste, and found that beverages in plastic were the highest generator of waste. Creekwater is a sustainable alternative to a commonly purchased City supply – plastic bottled water.
Why is it local?
While other canned water alternatives are available on the market, the City wanted to partner with and support a local business, which has fostered collaboration, reduced costs for materials and shipping, and reduced environmental impact compared to traditional methods.
Creekwater is canned at the Six Bridges Brewery facility located at 11455 Lakefield Drive #300 in Johns Creek, GA, minutes from Johns Creek City Hall and our parks, where Creekwater is consumed.
Why is aluminum more sustainable than plastic?
Aluminum is recycled at one of the highest rates compared to other recyclable materials (65 percent), and the average aluminum can contains 73 percent recycled content. Aluminum is also infinitely recyclable, meaning it can be recycled and remade into products without losing quality and using significantly less energy.
